The courier services team at ANYVAN has, as you would expect, a great interest in all things to do with transport. That's why, on this site, we feel it's our duty to focus on those items in the news and on the internet which relate to our business.

So whether it's the Mayor of London Boris Johnson boasting about his new bike superhighways, or the Freight Transportation Association asking the government to trust in them, we want to share it with you on ANYVAN.com.

Courier services is a growing industry and reflects a modern society which is not only generally more affluent than generations ago, but one which is increasingly mobile.

People move house more for example and the days of only having the local removal firm as the only option is long gone. There's also a growing cottage industry, stimulated by such operations as eBay, which constantly buys and sells goods online. This means that the British are living up to their old reputation as a nation of shopkeepers, except that this time it's being done online.

And that's a good thing. But the downside is that as a nation we have to become more careful about the things we used to take for granted. Our website promotes the concept of delivery auctions because it's the most effective way of coping with the increasing need for cost-effective courier services.

The team here recognised some years ago that the delivery sector was due a shake-up. High labour and vehicle costs, plus the ever-spiralling price of fuel, means that delivering goods is no longer cheap. So we decided to face head-on the issue of so many delivery vans being driven around part loaded (not full to their legal capacity), or indeed, empty. This wastes fuel, energy and does nothing for carbon emissions.

What ANYVAN.com facilitates is the better use of van and lorry space. We hope to make part loads and empty trips a thing of the past. And anything that helps that, we're going to highlight within our news centre.
