Long Arm of the Law Writes Off Motor

Red faces all around in the cop shop in Manchester as it transpires that one of the officers wrote off a thirty grand test car just before Christmas. Now, thankfully the driver was not seriously injured, nor any pedestrians were hurt in the incident, but you can just imagine if a driver from a car transporters company had committed the sin, the sarcasm and knowing looks that would have headed his way.

The police have admitted that they may have to look at their polices on driving, following the crash in Old Trafford which saw a VW Golf R take a tumble. In fact, looking at the pictures published in the local newspaper, the car was completely totalled.

Police were coy about the details of the crash, but it’s believed the speedy Golf was being tested by officers for its suitability for a specialist anti motor theft team. This particular model is the fastest Golf in the range and can reach speeds of 155 mph, achieving 60mph in a mere five seconds.

But, like couriers who often deliver cars, test drivers have a tricky job. They have to drive an unfamiliar vehicle, often in strange surroundings and accidents do happen.

The injured driver has been suspended from duty whilst an internal enquiry takes place.

Courier companies take note though; if you total a customers’ car, don’t expect the same shyness when it comes to your details being plastered around by the media.

This story about the written off Golf has only just leaked, after taking place in mid December.
