Over the years, AnyVan have moved thousands of cars within the UK and Europe. We’ve transported many weird and wonderful vehicles, and we have picked out some of favourites to share with you. From classic to crazy, you’re in for a ride!
1929 Italian Limousine
This vintage car was the Italian equivalent of our Rolls Royce and was the Pope’s choice of vehicle in the 1930’s. Only 950 of Isotta Fraschini 8A’s luxury car, better known as the 1929 Italian Limousine, were produced. The company promised that each car could reach a top speed of 93 mph – pretty speedy in those days! In March 2013, a restored 1929 Isotta-Fraschini Tipo 8A Convertible sold for $473,000 (£373,000).
Despite the fact there were under 1,000 true Cobras ever made, the AC Cobra won many admirers with its distinctive look, including iconic rear wings and much larger tyres. You only have to see it once in the flesh and it is burned forever in your memory according to Richard Hammond (Top Gear)! With so few available, the authentic competition Cobras rarely change hands. A rare 1966 AC Cobra 427 MkIII 7ltr recently went on sale in Staffordshire for £255,000 (over $403,000).
The choice of wheels for celebs and footballers alike, the Gallardo was by far the bestselling Lamborghini in history. Just over 14,000 were made before production of the Gallardo ceased production in 2013. The visual flair combined with the mechanical theatre of the traditional Italian supercar was the secret of its success. The Lamborghini Gallardo was awarded with the ‘Dream Car of the Year’ by Top Gear in 2016.
Reliant Scimitar SS1
Reliant may have been famous for its three-wheelers, but it has also dipped its toe in the waters of sports cars. It first arrived in the UK in the mid-eighties, but still remains a distinctive car with its wedge-shaped roadster body, space-frame chassis and full independent suspension. Reliant collapsed and ceased making cars in 1995, but there are still some SS1s around for those who are looking, and despite their small numbers prices are pretty low. A few hundred pounds will get you one in working condition.
Models come and go, but the Mercedes SL has stood the test of time.In terms of ‘on-paper’ performance, there isn’t a huge amount to choose between the four twin-turbo Mercedes SL engines. Despite the expensive prices, the Mercedes SL will hold on to a decent amount of its value after three years compared to other makes and models. Footballer Didier Drogba has found a firm favourite in the Mercedes SL65, costing more than 5 times the average UK annual salary! Although we didn’t move Drogba’s own Mercedes, we have transported other celebrity motors.
Even 40 years after it went on sale in Britain, the Triumph TR7 sports car still has the power to stop people in its tracks according to Richard Bremner (Telegraph). Not necessarily for its performance but more so for its styling, the front half of which remains surprisingly contemporary. The car was launched in the UK in May 1976, and the TR7 would become the best-selling TR model by some margin. The model pictured above was on sale recently for £39,850 with less than 3000 miles under its belt.
The VW Golf is top of the list when it comes to the most moved car by AnyVan. The first Volkswagen Golf was produced in 1974 and were initially made as 3-door hatchback style cars. The cars have filled many market segments, from a basic personal car, to high-performance hot hatches. The VW Golf has won many awards, including ‘World Car of the Year’ in 2009.
