The courier services team were somewhat affronted by the latest Driving Satisfaction Index survey that said that white van men were the most annoying motorists in the UK. 45% of 2,300 respondents to the poll by motors.co.uk said that the classic white van man was the ‘most aggravating’ driver on Britains’s roads, closely followed by the school run mum in a 4×4 with 42%.
The ‘Emotional Response to Driving’ survey also found that drivers of flashy cars was another annoyance with 27% saying that BMW’s got on their nerves and 14% saying the same of Range Rovers. At the other end of the scale, drivers of Renaults, Toyotas and Fiats were said to be the most ‘likeable’ motorists. But what if the annoying white van is a Toyota, hmm?
When it comes to actual driving the number 1 pet hate was being cut up by other drivers, cited by 54%. Taxi drivers were next at 34%, followed by cyclists and pensioners who irritated 32% of those asked. Some of the quirkier annoyances included Baby on Board stickers (5%), hearing politicians on the radio (4%) and having to slow down for lollipop ladies and children (2%).
We stand firmly by all man and van teams and courier companies. It’s not you guys who are annoying on the roads – it’s everyone else!
