The man and van team is partial to a motoring film, especially the classics from years gone by, which tend to feature better cars and cooler chaps - we'd take Steve McQueen over Vin Diesel any day of the week.

The Classic Film Festival polled more than 1,700 car and film fans to find out which was the UK's favourite driving movie and coming up trumps were The Italian Job (1969) in first place, with Bullitt (1968) following close behind. There were six categories in all: favourite classic motoring movie, favourite classic car in the movies, favourite classic bike in the movies, favourite classic car chase, favourite classic in television and the classic car they would most like to see on the screen. Phew! That's pretty comprehensive.

Favourite classic car in a movie went to the Aston Martin that featured in Bond film Goldfinger, followed by the Italian Job's Mini and the Mustang from Bullitt.  We're not entirely convinced about the inclusion of Back to the Future as a classic film, but we are fans of the Delorean, which came in third place. The favourite bike was, of course, the Triumph which Steve McQueen leaps over the fence in the Great Escape and the favourite chase was the Minis zooming around Turin in the Italian Job. The favourite TV classic was Inspector Morse's Jaguar Mk 2, which we found a little disappointing when they could have picked the A-Team van (surely the dream vehicle of couriers everywhere?!).

The winners of each category are being shown at the Footman James Classic Motor Show which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 16-18 November.
