Our vans are
Carbon Balanced

AnyVan makes the most of existing journeys to use as little fuel as possible, but while we massively reduce our carbon footprint through route matching, our vans still produce CO2, just like the others.

Our ambition is for AnyVan to be the greenest way to move on the planet, so we’ve teamed up with World Land Trust to balance all the CO2 our vans produce, by protecting and restoring threatened tropical forests each and every time we move.

Moving to Lancashire

A historic county with a rich history and a lot to offer residents and tourists alike, could you be about to move to Lancashire? With 14 boroughs to choose from, you're likely to find somewhere in Lancashire that you can call home.

The North West of England is home to sprawling countrysides, cultural events, and some well-known shopping facilities. It could be argued that everything you need is here, without the cost, stress or crowds commonly associated with the South.

Regardless of what you're after, one thing is for definite - Lancashire is a great place for you to call home.

What can I do in Lancashire?

Lancashire is a very diverse part of the UK, and if you're lucky enough to call it home, you'll be more than aware that there is always something to do here. Are you looking to reconnect with the great outdoors? Ribble Valley is home to the Tolkien Trail - one of the most popular walks in the county. Equally, areas of natural beauty nearby include the Lake District and Beacon Fell - one of the oldest country parks in England.

Perhaps you like to be beside the seaside? Synonymous with a break beside the sea, areas such as Blackpool and Morecambe can offer sea views, bustling resorts and the feel of a classic British seaside town. Blackpool, in particular, has long been associated with UK holidays, boasting a theme park, three promenades, the UK's largest indoor waterpark, and of course, the Blackpool Tower.

Sport plays a massive role in the region, with Lancashire County Cricket Club established as one of the most successful county cricket teams. Lancashire clubs were prominent in the formation of the Football League, with six of the twelve founder members from the region. Seven professional teams are now in England's top leagues, including Blackburn, Preston, Accrington Stanley and Fleetwood Town.

The region is also incredibly well connected to the rest of the country, with regular direct trains to London running from Blackpool and Preston. Additionally, major cities such as Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds are only a short journey away.

A Historical County

Perhaps easiest identified by the Red Rose of Lancaster - which was introduced during the historic War of the Roses - Lancashire is steeped in history.

Or, for something more supernatural, why not head over to Pendle Hill? Best known for the eponymous witchcraft trials that took place in 1612, the story has since gained global attention. Do you dare follow in their footsteps on the walking trail?

What Are The Average Property Prices In Lancashire?

Generally speaking, property prices in Lancashire mean you can get more for your money compared with many other UK regions. Properties in 2021 sold for an average price of £196,561. Whilst this may seem affordable, it's 6% up on the previous year, according to Rightmove.

On average, semi-detached properties sell for £184,629, whilst terraced properties sell for £126,673. Are you looking for something detached? These properties sold for an average of £332,833.

Blackpool or Preston?

What is there to do in Blackpool?

Blackpool could be one of the most popular areas in Lancashire, as it’s home to over one hundred thousand people and a few thousand more tourists that descend to visit over the summer months!

You are simply spoiled with things to do in Blackpool, so we’ll name just a few; the Pleasure Beach Theme Park, The Blackpool Tower, the Illuminations, the zoo, the Dungeons, the Ballroom and the Model Village & Gardens.

The stunning Stanley Park is a Grade II-listed park that has been voted the best park in the UK twice! The bandstand, boating lake and Italian gardens only take up a small portion of the 390 acres it spans across. It’s not the only green area around either, so you’re blessed with plenty of outdoor options for fun too!

What’s it like living in Preston?

Preston is a similar size population-wise to Blackpool but offers a very different living experience as it’s not a seaside town. There is plenty of green space on offer in the shape of Preston Guild Wheel, a 21 mile cycle way, the 250 acre Brockholes Nature Reserve, and Grade II listed Avenham & Miller Parks.

If you’re a fan of the active life, then you’re right on top of the PrestonWall Climbing Centre, Leisure Lakes Bikes and Penwortham Golf Club. If you’re more into extra fries than exercise, then there’s a vast array of independent restaurants for you to try!

History also plays a huge part in living in Preston, so why not take some time out to go on a guided tour of the area, or two, to learn more about your new area!

Should I Move to Blackburn, Wigan or Lancaster?

If you're looking to move to Lancashire, you may be wondering where you should call home. For those with an affinity for the hustle and bustle of well-populated areas, places such as Bolton and Preston may be best-suited to you.

Blackburn was originally known for its famous textiles, but it’s come a long way since! Now home to the mighty Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Championship, Blackburn Cathedral, The Wainwright Bridge and a thriving live music scene; there’s plenty to do should you chose to make Blackburn your home.

Wigan Pier, a wharf on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, was made famous by the writer George Orwell and isn’t not quite the kind of pier you’re currently imaging! As Wigan is inland, this would have been used for industrial transportation, but now it’s home to affordable housing and recreational boating.

Lancaster is filled to the brim with museums; the City Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Cottage Museum and so many hands-on exhibitions that you’ll have plenty to fill your weekends with should you move to Lancaster. Not only is there history galore, there’s an abundance of independent shops, bars and restaurants too.

But, if you want to be in quieter areas, Burscough, Longridge and Clitheroe could have what you're looking for. Or, why not consider moving to places such as Chorley, Goosnargh, Ormskirk and Accrington?

With great transport links across the region, you can comfortably live in Lancashire and commute into the bigger cities - giving you the perfect blend of the big city way of working with a peaceful place to call home.

Working in Lancashire

What is it like Working in Lancashire?

Once a thriving hub for tourism, mining and textiles, Lancashire has shifted to become more of a vital manufacturing hub. With many jobs available across the county, the average salary is £25,000 a year - which is a little below the UK average of £31,285. However, with a lower cost of living, life can balance out nicely.
