House removal costs in the UK are typically around £300 to £1,500, depending on factors like property size and distance. One of the biggest elements you can control to lower the cost is whether you want to do the packing of your items yourself, or have a company pack it for you––if you choose to pack yourself this can potentially help half the price.  

Great question, if you have control over the date of moving, then the cost-efficient day for removals may vary, but generally midweek days such as Tuesday or Wednesday are usually more affordable than weekends or Mondays.

The distance and number of items will often determine the price for all house removals, but for 4 bedroom houses prices will typically start from around £500 as a rough guideline. You’ll usually find the price will be roughly halved if you choose to pack everything yourself, and then just pay for the loading and moving itself. 

If you are packing yourself, then you want to give yourself enough time to ensure that once packed up the number of boxes you initially estimated for your move is still correct, this can help you avoid any additional charges on the day. But, let’s be honest, you still have to live in your current home for a while before moving, so you have to be practical with what you pack when. We recommend leaving things like the bed, and key kitchen appliances (like your trusty kettle) to as late as you can. Nobody wants to be sleeping on the floor with no tea before moving day!
