I booked my move from London to Kerpen, Germany through AnyVan and chose GEG International Removals based on their seemingly professional communication and accommodating offer. Unfortunately, the experience turned into an incredibly stressful ordeal from start to finish.

Pre-Move Communication:
Initially, communication with Lina was prompt and professional, which gave me confidence. I accepted the quote, paid the deposit via AnyVan, and believed everything was set. However, shortly after, a second demand for another deposit came through from Romans Valdmanis at GEG — despite already paying the agreed amount through AnyVan. When questioned, Romans insisted they operated independently and required additional payment to proceed. Reluctantly, I paid to avoid jeopardizing the move.

Moving Day Chaos:
While no exact time was agreed upon, I expected someone to arrive in the morning. However, by 9:30 AM, no one had arrived. After several attempts to contact GEG, I eventually spoke to a representative who, to my shock, was in Lithuania and clearly unaware of any scheduled move. It became painfully obvious that nothing had been properly organized. Eventually, a single mover arrived without the promised packing materials or the second person needed. After more delays and confusion, additional helpers and packing supplies were sourced locally, but the situation remained disorganized. The van finally departed around 4:30 PM — hours later than hoped for.

Hidden Costs and Broken Promises:
Later that evening, I was informed of unexpected additional charges due to the move becoming a “dedicated van,” with the threat that my belongings would not be unloaded unless I paid. I transferred the money, assuming it would ensure a direct, delay-free delivery. Unfortunately, that promise was broken almost immediately. Tracking the van via an AirTag revealed detours around London, long stationary periods, and eventually a drive towards Paris — not Germany. Communication with GEG became sporadic, vague, or simply nonexistent.

Communications were a bit rushed and last minute on the respective pick-up and drop-off days but apart from that, everything went well. The quote/final cost was a very competitive price (actually the lowest!) and there was a minimal amount of paperwork required for the customs process.
