If your friend is moving house, there are a number of ways that you can help them.
One way, is to aid them in clearing out unwanted items. Your friend may need assistance lifting or transporting items to be recycled or discarded. This may include taking items to a dump, recycling centre or charity shop.
Another way that you can lend a hand is by helping them to pack their stuff. It will make the job easier and faster if split between the two of you. This can also make it more fun to do. So, grab some bubble wrap and parcel tape and volunteer some of your time.
If your friend has a pet or young child they would benefit from you looking after them while the removal men load up the van. This keeps the child or pet out of harm’s way and helps to keep them calm.
On your friends last night or day in their house it will be difficult for them to cook because they will have had to pack up their kitchen. To facilitate them, why not invite them over for a meal at your house? This will be more practical for them and gives you a chance to spend some extra time with them before they move out.
Lastly, your friend may need to store some of their items away so that they are not loaded into the removal van. These will include some things that may be fragile or important to them. It will save them money and worry if you can spare them some room to store their items in your home or garage until they collect them to move to the new house.
