Our vans are
Carbon Balanced

AnyVan makes the most of existing journeys to use as little fuel as possible, but while we massively reduce our carbon footprint through route matching, our vans still produce CO2, just like the others.

Our ambition is for AnyVan to be the greenest way to move on the planet, so we’ve teamed up with World Land Trust to balance all the CO2 our vans produce, by protecting and restoring threatened tropical forests each and every time we move.

Moving to Cheshire

With Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Derbyshire and Wales just some of the locations on Cheshire's doorstep, this historical county is a perfect place for you to call home.

Covering 905 square miles and boasting a population of around 1 million, Cheshire is, for the most part, largely rural and can offer residents a peaceful life.

With many famous musicians, comedians, athletes and the most recent James Bond hailing from Cheshire, if you're looking for a place to settle down, chances are you'll find it in this part of the North West.

Explore the Region

Cheshire is a brilliant place in the UK, and if you're lucky enough to call it home, you'll no doubt have an idea of what you can do here. But, if you're looking to move here, we're here to offer an idea of what you can do.

If you have a fondness for food, and let's be honest, who doesn't? - then you're in luck. Locals are proud to have such a great range of food and drink produced in Cheshire, with a lot recognised as being the best in the country, winning awards from competitions all over the United Kingdom. From microbreweries to Cheshire Cheesemakers, there's no better place to sample local delicacies than at the annual Nantwich Food Festival.

If you're looking for a family-friendly day out, Chester Zoo is the most visited tourist attraction outside of London and home to over 35,000 animals.

History on Your Doorstep

Perhaps history is more your vice? Step back in time by heading over to Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse, or Tatton Park. Or visit the historic metropolis of Chester. Dating back to the Roman ages, you can explore the famously-walled city and take in sights of days past.

Keeping Chester in mind, the famous city is second only to Warrington in terms of population. Home to a university, the best-preserved city walls in Britain, prominent black-and-white architecture and the unique Chester Rows, are you ready to explore?

Thanks to its geographical location, many big cities and regions are nearby, meaning that it's well connected. Crewe is home to the busiest local train station, with trains regularly running to London, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Wales. Maybe you're looking to escape to explore the world? You're in luck! Manchester Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport are both within a 40-minute drive.

Stockport or Macclesfield?

What is there to do in Stockport?

Stockport is a stunning town with architecture enriched with history that offers something for every member of the family. For dad, there’s the Robinson’s Brewery tour and the Avro Heritage Museum. For mum, there’s the museum of Hatting and The Plaza Theatre. For the grandparents, there’s the Stockport Air Raid Shelters from back in their day. And for the kids, well there’s plenty including Reddish Vale Farm, Wild Things Play Centre and X-GENVR.

Bramall Hall, one of the most photographed buildings in Stockport, is an incredible Tudor Manor House set in 50 acres of parkland complete with lakes, woods and gardens.

And if you’re looking for something really different, try Where the Light Gets In; a menu-less bistro that offers the freshest ingredients that arrive that day.

What’s it like living in Macclesfield?

Macclesfield, having been voted as one of the top places to live in the North West, has a lot to offer to keep you and the family busy over your weekends; canal boats for hire, a variety of museums and galleries, and many walking, cycling and horse riding routes.

For your day to day living, there are all of the shops you expect plus an abundance of small businesses offering coffee, crafts and clothing. The same goes for the local restaurants; plenty of names you’ll know alongside independent ones you will soon know and love.

Green spaces are an easy find in Macclesfield with Tegg’s Nose Country Park, The Middlewood Way and the incredible gardens of Gawsworth Hall, home to the famous open-air theatre that showcases plays, concerts, comedians and musicals between June and August.

Should I Move to Altrincham, Warrington or Whitegate?

An affluent county that is in demand for movers of all ages, Cheshire has many highly desirable towns and villages. Perhaps the most sought-after areas, Wilmslow, Prestbury and Alderley Edge form the famous Cheshire Golden Triangle - home to many footballers, entrepreneurs and celebrities.

If you aren't quite working with the budget of a Premier League star, you may be more inclined to head towards Cheshire West, which features prices that are a little lighter. Locations here include Ellesmere Port, Northwich and Winsford.

Altrincham is one of the four major urban areas in the Trafford area of Greater Manchester. Some of the top places to visit include Dunham Massey Hall & Gardens, Altrincham Market and Denzell Gardens.

Warrington is home to the UK’s first IKEA; fun fact! Not only that, it’s also the home of the Rugby League and The Halliwell Jones Stadium is home to the mighty Warrington Wolves which are well worth catching a game. From boutiques to bistros or bumper cars at Gulliver's World Theme Park.

But what about Whitegate? Home to BeWILDerwood Cheshire, Whitegate is a small village with a big personality. If you’re looking for a thatched cottage or a property filled with character, this is the place for you.

Students and young professionals may gravitate towards Chester for the university and inner-city lifestyle, whilst the nearby village of Kelsall is a great location for commuters. Equally, Crewe is around an hour away from Manchester and Liverpool, or you can be in London in under two hours.

Working in Cheshire

What is it like Working in Cheshire?

The rural nature of Cheshire means that agriculture has been a staple of the county's economy. But, in recent years, it has also become a hotbed for automotive, biotechnology, chemical, financial services, food and drink, ICT, and tourism industries.

The average salary is £27,000 a year, which is just below the UK average of £31,285.

Many household names are based here, including BAE Systems, Bentley, Pets at Home and Sellotape. But, with neighbouring cities including Manchester, Stoke and Liverpool, residents are never too far away from the opportunities associated with big cities.
